The training is free with con- tinuing education and post credits provided. ASIST is a two-day work- shop designed to teach the skills to competently and confidently intervene with an individual at risk of sui- cide. Developed by Living Works Education Inc., the workshop prepares Gate- keepers to integrate princi- ples of intervention into everyday practice. The curriculum is divided into four learning modules: attitudes, knowledge, inter- vention and resources. Skills and principles are illustrated with case studies presented in videos and live dramatiza- tions, role-play simulations and discussions. Training participants will be provided with Applied Suicide Inter- vention Skills Training handbook, workbooks as well as networking opportunities with class participants. The training will be facili- tated by certified ASIST trainers Tim Anderson, clin- ical director for District II Al- cohol & Drug Program, and Tara Hubing, counselor Cir- cle Public Schools. Breakfast and lunch are provided with lunches sponsored by the Miles City Local Advisory Council on Mental Health. Registration is necessary as class participation is lim- ited. Jon Tester, D- Mont., announced recently. The Treasury currently mints presidential coins and sends them to Federal Re- serve banks for circulation, regardless of public de- mand. Tester asked the Treasury Department to reconsider the need to produce the coins and to ensure that it was not wasting taxpayer dollars. In response, the Treasury an- nounced it will cut coin pro- duction to match demand, saving taxpayers at least $50 million annually for several years. "Whether it's pinching pennies or pinching dollars, no action is too small when it comes to cutting spending, going after waste and saving taxpayers money," Tester said. "Reducing the produc- tion of coins most Mon- tanans don't use is common sense, and I'm pleased the Treasury is responding to our call for action." The Treasury Department will now mint and sell coins directly ordered by the pub- lic. Presidential coins will still be considered legal ten- der and available to busi- nesses.
