Ide ]s for gr hosl0000ss gifts You've been invited to a family gathering or to a friend's home for a Christ- mas party and you want to show your hostess your ap- preciation in an original way. What could replace the usual bottle of wine? Of course, you could always opt for champagne, ice cider or a good liqueur. There is a myriad of other possibilities, though. How about a set of cheese knives? This original idea is not only decorative, practical and easy to take care of, it's also sure to please. What's more, it's something we don't often think of buying for our- selves. Or, how about giving a set of four wine glasses and a decanter? This is always practical and is sure to de- light the person receiving it- it's a gift that would make anyone happy! If those options don't ap- peal to you, there is always a huge range of practical kitchen gadgets to choose from. Tasty treats are also well-received. Bottles of good quality vinegars or otis, chutneys, tapenades, interesting and unusual spice mixes, per- fumed teas or coffees, caramels, fine chocolates or even fudge, jams or ginger- bread cookies you've made yourself. A wide range of gift bas- kets, filled with different types of treats, can also be purchased in shops. They are both visually appealing and delicious to eat. A bouquet of flowers or a potted plant is sure to trigger an instant smile on your hostess's face. During the festive season, many different colored poin- settias are available to add color to any decor. In short, it's easy to express your grat- itude for being invited to a Christmas gathering, no matter your budget! Christmas stockings ideas for him, her Can't think of the perfect gift? The idea of giving someone a gift package in the form of a gift certificate is as interesting as it is per- sonalized. Your loved one will feel that you have of- fered them a moment of pure happi- ness. Whether it's for your hus- band or wife, your parents, your brothers and sisters, a cousin, a sin- gle or married friend, a neigh- bor or simply a new acquain- tance, a gift package cer- tificate will be perfect under the Christmas tree. Before shopping for the gift package, find out about the person you want to treat. If your sister is going through a stressful period at work, offer her a day or a weekend of relaxation at a spa. If your niece collects cos- tume necklaces and bracelets, she could be in for a totally original gift: a workshop to learn how to create jewelery at home. She could invite her best friends to create masterpieces in the comfort of her own home. Your cousin loves to cook? Surprise him with a series of cooking classes during which he'll make maca- roons, tarts and biscuits and other mouthwater- ing goodies. If you're wrack- ing your brain for a gift for your father, perhaps he'd love to receive a shortterm rental of a lux- ury car. At the wheel of "his" favorite vehicle, he'll love you more than ever. Some people hesitate to of- fer gift packages as they hate the idea of giving a gift that can fit inside a card. If you feel the same way, give your gift package certificate a fes- tive air by putting it inside a book which you can then wrap up artistically. Size Fits All!
