Blue Christmas service is at Lonsdale Methodist Church, 205 Third Ave. S.E., Sidney, at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Pastor Vicki Waddington, 433-3110, or email Thursday, Dec. 22 TOPS meets at Crestwood Inn's northside entrance. Weigh-ins are from 5-5:30 p.m., and the meeting is 5:30-6 p.m. Pinochle is at the Moose Lodge start- ing at 6:30 p.m. Sidney Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Elks Lodge. Saturday, Dec. 24 Fairview Alliance Church, 702 Western Ave. (across from the Fairview High School) will be serv- ing a free turkey supper an Christmas Eve from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to the Christmas Eve service. Sunday, Dec. 25 Sidney Knights of Columbus #3002 annual community Christmas din- ner is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Matthew's multipurpose room, 317 Seventh St. S.E. A free-will offering will be taken, and turkey, Around town ham with all the trimmings served. Everyone is invited, and volunteers are welcome. Will deliver, call 433-2510. Tuesday, Dec. 27 Commodities distribution will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the Nutter building. Go to the west door where the ramp is located. Saturday, Jan. 7 VFW Post #4099 and the Ladies Auxiliary will be honoring local National Guard at an appreciation dinner at 5 p.m. at the VFW hall in Sidney. Service men and women and their spouses are wel- come. Sunday, Jan. 8 The annual Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner at First Lutheran Church, Savage, is from 12:30-5 p.m. Cost is $13 for adults and $5 for chil- dren 12 and under. Congregational matching funds are being applied for through Thrivent Financial. Tuesday, Jan. 10 Sons of Norway will meet at 7 p.m. at the 489 lodge in Sidney. Around Town The Herald's Around Town runs events a week in.advance, so each calendar item submitted will appear at least twice (if submitted in time). Deadlines for Around Town are Monday at noon for the Wednesday issue and Thursday at noon for Sunday. All items submit- ted should include a brief descrip- tion of the event, date and time, location, admission fees or charges (if applicable) and a per- son to contact for additional infor- mation. Items should be turned into the Herald office, submitted through our Community Calendar on the Herald website at www.sid: or taxed to 433- 7802. For the Seniors Sidney Senior Citizens (813 Third St. N.E.) - Meets weekly on Thursdays at 12:45 p.m. with a noon pot-luck meal on the third Thursday. Blood pressure readings and pulse checks are given on pot- luck day. Dinner is served every Monday and Friday at 11:30 a.m. Call President Richard Riedmann, 433-2292. Savage Senior Citizens (Main Street) - Meets weekly on Thursdays at noon, with birthdays on the first Thursday, a business meeting on the second Thursday and meals every Thursday. Fox Lake Senior Citizens (Lambert) - Meets weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a business meeting on the second Tuesday and meals every Tuesday and Thursday. Fairview Senior Citizens (510 Central) meets each Wednesday at 1 p.m. for cards with a meal at local cafe on the first Wednesday of each month.
