o t 213 - The Sidney Herald, Sidney, Mont., Wed., Dec. 13, 1972 Team 2 Drops Team 1 Team 2 of Central defeated team 1 of Central 14 - 10 in grade school competition last week. In grade 5 competition Westside's team 1 defeated team 2 - 21 - 6. The high scorer for Central 1 was Gene Asbeck with 4 points. Others scoring were Todd Morasko with 2 points, Dnane Norby 2, and Jeff Sukut, 2 points. The high scorer for team 2 of Central was K. C. Miller, 4 points. Others scoring 2 points were Kevin I,eSueur, Todd Skalsky, Jeff Miller, Mark Person and Jim McDonald. The high scorer for Westside 1 was Brian Overcast - 10 point:s. Tom Torgerson scored 6 points, Kelly Knaff scored 4 points and Todd Peterson scored 1 point. The high scorer for westside 2 was Mike Shenk with 4 points. Others scoring were David Williams 2 points and one inenlber from team one that got his directions wrong. In sixth grade action, Team 1 of Central defeated team 2 of Central 24 - 17. The high scorer for Team 1 was Jeff Hesper with 12 points. Others scoring were Ernie Waters with 8 poinLs, Bryan Johnson, and Peter McKnight with 2 points each. The high scorer for Team 2 was Chuck Buxbaum with 9 poinLs. Inny lrson scored 4 points. Gary Kling and Tom Dudley each scored 2 points. In sixth grade action, West.side 2 defeated Team 1 of Westside 16 - 14. The high scorers for Team 1 of Westside 2 were Guy Melby and Don Johnson with 4 points. Others that scored 2 points each were Jeff Herman, Sam Simard, I;,tch Montalbo anti Micky l,undby. On Friday night Central 2 played WesLide 2 during half time of Junior Var@ty game 6 - 0. Then Saturday night in grade 5 action, Central 1 defeated Westide 1, 6-1 during half time ot .lunior Varsity ame. In ixth ralle action Team 2 of ('entral tied with Westside 1 4-4. Saturday night Centz'al 1 lost to We.stside 2 5-6. The boys play on Saturda3 IJol'nins startin at about 9 a.m. ('dine and .see them play. Race Winners Snowmobile racers and fans braved zero degree weather here Sunday at the first annual Jaycee Snowmobile Races at the Rich)and County Fairgrounds. Over 50 entries were marked for the races and winners were named in nine races. In the 0 - 300 A Main class, Bing Swensen of Williston won the race on a Skidoo. Dallas Williamn of Plentywood won second on a Polaris and Milo Bendixson of Watford City collected third on a Snow Jet. In the B Main Sam Adams of Glasgow took first on a Polaris, Run Croonwell, Scobey, took second on an Arctic Cat and (;ary King, Sidney, won third on a Rupp. Richard Atkinson, Baker, took first in the 301 - M0 A Main on his Skidoo. Dallas Williamson of Plentywood took sc'ond on a Polaris and Greg lteller of Williston was third on an Arctic Cat, In the B Main, Glen Sillerud, Richland, won first lm a Skirole, AI Chapman of Willi:ton won Second on a Rupp and Milo Olson, Plenty- wood, took third on an Arctic Cat. Comets Trip Tigers 53-51 Alexander stormed back in the second half to trip up Trenton 53 - 51 Tuesday night at Alexander. It was the Comets first win of the season to even their record at 1-1. They are 1-4) in conference play. Alexander led 14 - 10 at the end of the first quarter, but the Tigers roared back in the second quarter and led 35 - 30 at halftinle and 45 - 43 after the third quarter. Then in the fourth quarter with minutes to go the Comets went.ahead and hehl off the Tiger attack. The Comets held the edge on the boanls 40 to 31. Tom For- thun led Comet rebounders with 10, followed by Roy Near and Wade hasen with 8. The ComeL :,dot 13 for 25 on their frc throws for an even 52 per cent. High game honors went to Dave Braaten and Kip White Cloud of Trenton. They both cashed in 16 points. Comet's scoring went as follows: Gary Mellaml 12, Roy Neer 11, Wade Aasen 9, Roeky Monson 9, Tom Forthun 8, J. I,ee 2 and Tim I,eer 2. In the preliminary game the Alexander JV stomped the Trenton JV 65 - 39. Richard Fuhrman, Richland, won first in the 341 - 400 A Main on an Arctic Cat. Norman Ruud, Flaxville, took second on an Arctic Cat and Run Zeidler, Plentywood, took third on a Rupp. Chick Battes of Williston was winner of the 401 - 440 A Main on a Polaris and Gordy Johnson, Williston, took second on a Rupp. Third place was won by Allen Reine of Sidney on a Yamaha. In the B Main, Richard Fuhrman, Richland, -won first on an Arctic Cat. Richard Johnson, Williston, took second on a Rupp and Wes Knight of Glasgow won third on a Polaris. In the 441-650 A Main Class, Allan Rees, Sidney, won first on a Yamaha, Greg Heller, Wiiliston, took second on an Arctic Cat, and Gordy Johnson, Williston, won third on a Rupp. (;ordy Johnson, Williston, won the 651 A Main class and Was Knight, Glasgow, took second. Junior Lodge First Meeting The Sidney Junior Sons of Norway l,odge met last Wednesday for their first work meeting. Whittling was done by the boys and the girls did embroidery. Refreshments were brought by Suzie and lretta Pedersen. The Junior I,odge is now selling Norwegian buttons. The Christmas party for the Junior l,odge is a potluck dinner at 6:30 on Dec. 28 at the Moose Hall. Fairview High School (;hristJnas Concert will be held on Tuesday, I)ec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the new gynlnasium. The students promise you it will be worth your while because they are putting a lot of time aml effort in it. School will be dismissed Dec. 2'2 at 1:45 and will resume Jan. 2.
