BY BILL VANDER WERE SIDNEY HERALD Area children were able to celebrate National Day for Kids with a free carni- val held at Central Elemen- tary School on Saturday. The annual event was organized by the Boys & Girls Club of Richland County. "The National Day for Kids is something that our national office does every year," said Michele Seadeek, Resource Devel- opment director at the local club. "It's a fun day." Activities included face painting, a giant dice roll, a baseball toss, a giant Tic-Tac-Toe, a pool noodle battle, a picture booth, a treasure hunt, a giant ring toss, an Angry Birds' sling shot, a Kerplunko, a sack race, a tug of war and basketball shooting. Food provided included hot dogs, cotton candy, pop- corn, lemonade and water. One of the highlights was a "kids chopped" challenge. Sponsors of the "chopped" challenge were Meadowlark and Pizza House. "It's a good way to give back to the communi- ty and raise awareness for the club," Seadeek said. Sidney High School orga- nizations that stepped up by running games includ- ed the BPA, Leo Club and Key Club. Other non-profit groups helping were Boy Scouts, RSVP, the Founda- tion for Community Care and the Richland County.
