The event attracted a record 138 golfers from several towns, including Sidney, Cul- bertson, Glendive, Plentywood, Outlook, Reserve, Savage, Williston and Billings. The tournament was set up as a scramble format with teams of six players. The event raised $19,000 to help build the Foundation's endowment fund, which will help the community provide more medical equipment for Sidney Health Center, the ambulances, the local and rural fire depart- ments and other health-related organizations that will secure the continuance and quality of local health care. Each May, the Foundation uses interest earnings from the endowment fund to pur- chase medical equipment and fund health care needs for all essential Richland County health providers. Committee members who planned and coordinated the tournament included coordi- nator Janette McCollum, Virginia Dschaak, Randy Johnson, Jane Jung, Joyce Jungels, Leo and Shirley Miller and Tina Montgomery. Winners were awarded in first, second, seventh and 14th places. Taking first were Bill Brenner, Matt Brenner, Kevin Mayer, Jordan Mayer, Dick Larsen and Orville Island. Second-place winners were Russ Bender, Robin Bender, Don Lind, Margaret Lind, Lance Averett and John Rassier. Placing seventh were Kirby Halvorson, Larry Riggs, Dustin Bieber, Murray Kline, Hubert Johnson and Kevin Johnson. Placing 14th were Lee Harris, Matt Harris, Keith Brisben, John Brisben, Dale Iversen and Charlotte Iversen. The Foundation also honored the players and sponsors who have participated in every tournament for the past 10 years. The sponsors for all 10 years were Blue Rock Products, CHMS, P.C., Stockman Bank, Brenner Averett & Co., P.C., Rich- land Federal Credit Union, Elk River Print- ing, Wells Fargo Bank-Sidney, Action Auto and Seitz Insurance Agency. Hole prize winners included Rodney Miller, Joyce Jungels, Chad Lorenz, Kirby Halvorson, Matt Brenner, Dave Brockes, Della Pewonka, Kevin Mayer, Colleen Cooper, John Rassier, Wilbur Rupp, Red Lovec, Marl Christensen, Dale Iversen, Pam McGlothlin and Perry Williams. Par three special hole contests were spon- sored by local physicians, Dr. Michael LaPan, Dr. Rajohn Karanjai, Dr. Gregory Faul and Dr. Paul Johnson, and the winners each received $100 cash. Lambert news BY FRANCES STEPPLER Correspondent Laura and Jennifer Vaira, daughter of Larry and Kathy Vaira, returned Aug. 26 from their six-week backpacking trip through Europe. During their journey they spent time with their cousin in Switzerland and relatives in Italy, and visited their great- grandfather's (Also Vaira) child- hood home.
