The Telly Award - the non- network equivalent of an Emmy - is a national competition hon- oring outstanding non-network television commercials and pro- grams, and non-broadcast video and film productions. Several thousand entries from across the country are received in the various categories with many of those entries produced by large urban ad agencies and/or non-network production companies, such as HBO. Each entry must go through a stringent evaluation process and must receive at least a nine out of 10 rating to advance to the next level of the competition. The "Purging Spurge" docu- mentary debuted on Prairie Pub- lic Television in June 2002, and was distributed nationally in April 2003. The documentary, which focuses on grassland health and the impact of inva- sive weeds like leafy spurge, was developed to help increase public awareness of noxious weeds and to bring all segments of society on board to help con- trol them. A VHS videotape of the docu- mentary is available free from TEAM Leafy Spurge by con- tacting the USDA-ARS North- ern Plains Agricultural Research Laboratory at P.O.
