She recently illustrated The Selfish Giant by Oscar ~ Wilde for Familius Pub- lishing. She was born in Tennessee, but has lived in Colorado, New Mexico and Montana, jumping back and forth between them. She works in Watercol— or and cut paper. Jeanne drew inspiration from comparing the different landscapes she has resided in, the north vs. the south, and what it means to be— long to a certain place. My mom is an artist. i can’t think back to a time when she wasn’t making dolls, or beading or just making at the kitchen table and let me join in. Because of that early allow— ance to make messes and play around, developed skill quickly (which is often confused with talent) and continued doing it through school. also always loved to read and combining what read in books with art was exciting, so l pur- sued illustration. 2. What are you goals as an artist? i want to make beauti- ful books and stories that make a person laugh with joy and wonder. 3. Instead of focusing on narrative painting mainly, I wanted to experiment so i chose different forms to express the idea with the image of a rabbit (which I associate with flight and movement) as the main motif to bring it all together. 4. What do you like to do besides art? I like to devour books, go roadtripping, dig holes, play with the watering hose, and play computer games very badly. 5.
