AI2 SIDNEY HERALD, WEDNESDAY, MAY 15, 2019 FROM PAGE 1: Gorder: "I think it was an absolutely wonderful turnout," Gorder said. "It was a lot of work, but it was worth it." Tickets were $25 each and tables were sold with 10 seats for $500. The table sales alone brought in $24,000 and additional single tick- et sales accounted for approximately $5,500. Although that doesn't account for sales at the door the night of the event. "It was a big suc- cess," Cayko said. "It was packed." "There were easily more than 700 people there," Gorder said. "We had several orga- nizations help set up, tear down and work the event. We had Cut- ting Edge Dance par- ents, Sidney Eagle wrestlers and their coaches, parents and alumni, and National Honor Society Mem- bers from Fairview helping." More than 100 volun- teers helped organize and man the event. Official dollar amounts for donations haven't yet been tal- lied at time of press. Gorder said there were still people who hadn't picked up their silent auction, items as of Monday morning. Free will donations were also made throughout the evening. Auction items in- cluded a pig-shaped smot eiZ($650 gift certif- icate from yellowstone Painting and a one- half hog and process- ing from Full Throttle Show Pigs and Ry- an's Processing plant. Other silent auction items included a whole lamb with processing, Oakley sunglasses, Traeger grill, a baby basket with Dr. Seuss books and terrycloth towels and a Chinese dinner for six. Tickets included a buffet style dinner pro- vided by donations and volunteers from Cut- ting Edge Dance Stu- dio provided late night food for attendees. Entertainment in- cluded a dueling piano act from Denver, Colo- rado, local bands Stone Yellow and Valley Cash, and the Patter- son Brothers, a musical duo from Polson. "I can't go out with- out taking rocks back with me," Tveten laughed. "The rocks give the paintings so much more texture," she added. She explained a lot of her friends took to painting on rocks and that's how she got into it as well. Artist Leith Howard DeWeese had sever- al of her watercolor paintings on display. Ranging from land- scape scenery, wood cabins, mason jars, trees and beautiful mermaids, her talent rang through. DeWeese used to be a teacher and taught art and math. Now that she's retired she's able to spend time creating her own pieces. Some of the students from the school also had their art on dis- play at the art show. Watercolor, 3D art and illusion art were among the pieces from the students.
