AOnl ZJ, 200a Serving the MonDak area since 1908 earns ,ace Teams from Lambert, Fairview, Savage, Richey and Circle competed at the Wibaux Invitational Tournament in Glendive Thursday. With 50 points, Lambert's boys placed fourth. Fairview accounted for 24 points fol- lowed closely by Circle with 23. Savage finished the meet with 16 points while Richey scored a point. Fairview's girls finished in fourth place with 52 points while Circle finished sixth with 37. Richey ended up with 18 points. Lambert and Savage fin- ished the meet with 14 and six points, respectively. Boys timed events In the 200-meter dash, Fairview's Derek Johnson placed fourth in a time of 24.23. Circle's Brandon Birkley placed second in the 400-meter dash in 52.21. Fairview?s Kelsey Wiltzen placed third in the 800- meter run with a time of 2:07.9. In the 1600-meter run, Lam- bert's Zach Jones placed third in 4:50.69. Jones also placed third in the 3200-meter run in 10:54.62 fol- lowed by Fairview's Ryan Kopp in fourth in a time of 11:07.41. In the 100-meter hurdles, Lam- Three area track athletes are leading the pack in Montana track so far this season. Sidney's Heidi Bouchard and school record holder is in a four- way tie for the top spot in the girls high jump with a jump of 5- ~4. With a vault of 11-0, Sidney's ~shley Taylor is in a three-way ~tie for top honors in the girls ~oOle vault. Lambert's Chris venson leads the way in the ys high jump by cleating 6-6. In the state's top 20 countdown the boys, Fairview's Derek Johnson threw the discus 149-8 to be among the state's best. Lambert's Evenson jumped 41- 71/2 in the triple jump while Sidney's Kyle Welnel ran a time of 23.28 in the 200-meter dash to finish among the state's finest. Sidney's Bridgett Farr cleared 5-2 in the high jump while Sara Farr ran a time of 61.34 in the 400-meter dash to be counted in the state's top 20 girls. Boys field events Evenson won the high jump with a jump of 6-4 followed by teammate Brett Irigoin in sec- ond with a jump of 5-8. Savage's Phil Pust cleared 5-6 to place fourth. In the long jump, Pust jumped 20-1/2 to place second. Evenson placed fourth (19-61/2) while Birkley placed sixth (19- 4). Evenson also won the triple jump going 41-8 followed by Birkley in second with a jump of 41-2. Pust placed fourth with a jump of 39-11. Cole Leininger vaulted 9-6 to place fourth in the pole vault. In the discus, Fairview's Johnson won the event with a throw of 150-2. Girls timed events In the 100-meter dash, Fairview's Amanda Andreasen placed fourth in a time of 13.55 followed by Lambert's Amy Vaira in fifth (13.59) and Fairview's Alissa Klose in sixth ( 13.71). Klose placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in 28.81 while Andreasen recorded a time of 28.89 for a sixth-place finish. In the 400-meter dash, Klose placed second in a time of 1:03.28 followed by Circle's Lorena Birkley in fourth (1:03.95). Richey's Sarah Servais placed second in th~ 800-meter run in a time of 2:29.37 while Circle's Birkley's placed fourth in 2:33.52. Circle's Solberg placed third in the 3200-meter run in 13:30.0. Kalli Peterson, Circle, placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.87 fol- lowed by I~ambert's JaNae Klempel in third in a time of 17.15. Fairview's Lyndsey Tay- lor finished sixth in 18.25. In the 300-meter hurdles, Richey's Servais placed second in 49.95 followed by Peterson in fourth (51.47). Fairview's short relay team placed sixth (55.75) while Circle's long relay team placed fourth (4:38.64). Girls field events Fairview's Andreasen placed fourth in the high jump with a jump of 4-8. In the long jump, Fairview's Klose placed second with a jump of 15-1 followed by Lambert's Vaira in third ( 14- l 1 ). Circle's Peterson placed fifth (14-5). Andreasen won the triple jump with a jump of 31-43/4. Sav- age's Jill Jorgensen jumped 31-2 |br a third-place finish followed by Peterson in fourth (30-11), Servais in fifth (30-8) and Cir- cle's Kama Urton in sixth (29- 91/2). Fairview's Taylor won the pole vault with a vault of 7-0. Fairview, Savage and Richey compete Saturday in Richey at the Phil Robinson Memorial Invitational track meet. Third place For the first time ever, Team Montana brought home hard- ware with a third-place finish from Annual AAU/USA Folk- style Wrestling Tournament in Tulsa, Okla. last weekend. South Dakota won the tournament fol- lowed by Iowa in second. Team Montana narrowly missed out on second place by two points. Twenty-three Sidney wrestlers along with six other Montana wrestlers competed for Team Montana with 14 of these wrestlers placing at the tourna- ment. Winning the 152-pound Cadet division was Gresh Melby. Plac- ing second were Dillon Lunder- by in the 40-pound Tot division, Gresh Jones in the 45-pound Bantam division, Craig Dunn in the 130-pound Cadet division and Kyle Williams in the 140- pound Cadet division. Third place went to Dace Fish- er (70-pound Bantam), Tyler Schilling (105-pound Novice), Josh Moore (110-pound School- boy) and Beau Melby (150- pound Schoolboy). Fourth-place finishers included Jayme Kelly (65-pound Novice), Brady Burgess (100-pound Schoolboy) and Daniel Collins (152-pound Cadet). Placing fifth were Mac by Team Montana Collins (105-pound Schoolboy) and Gussie Larsen (140-pound Cadet). Byron Kuylen finished sixth in the 125-pound Elite division.
