Fairview High School student attends National Youth Leadership Forum Blake Reynolds, a sopho- more at Fairview High School, was granted the privi- lege to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security Feb. 3-8. The forum took place in Washington, D.C., at the Na- tional 4-H Convention Center with 350 other top students from around the United States. While at the forum, Reynolds visited Capitol Hill and toured the surrounding areas. This includedthe mon- uments: Washington, Jeffer- son, ED. Roosevelt and Lin- coln; Vietnam and Korean War Memorials; the Capitol Buildings; the Capitol; Li- brary of Congress; Supreme Court; the Botanical Gar- dens; and Union Square. The highlight of his entire trip NORTHWESTCOLLEGE Northwest College, Powell, Wyo., named 326 to its2008 fall semester honor rolls, in- cluding local students. To be listed on the presi- dent's honor roll, students must complete at least 12 se- mester hours of college-level Reynolds was getting to spend a day at Quantico Ma- rine Corp Base. While there, he was able to try night vision goggles, fire an M-16, eat at the barracks mess hall, see the K-9 unit, as well as explore the history and background of the base. Reynolds says the National Security Forum was an amazing learning experi- ence. Through mock strate- gic planning sessions we were taught how the govern- ment makes executive deci- sions, as well as the different branches that lead to the de- cisions made. In his group he was elected vice president of President's lists course work with a 4.0 grade point average. Michelle McPherson and Karl Sergent were named to the president's honor roll list. MILES COMMUNITY COLLEGE Andrea Christensen, a 2008 the United States and had to fulfdl those duties in the planning sessions to solve an overseas crisis. At the forum some of the key speakers were high-rank- ing officials such as the direc- tors of the CIA, FBI and NSA. These speakers gave an in- side look at the difficulties of their positions, as well as the rewards. "I had the experience of a lifetime while I was in Wash- ington, D.C. I made some great friends and would go back in a heartbeat," Reynolds said of the trip. He strongly suggests taking the chance and going for any- one who receives an invita- tion from the National Youth Leadership Forum. For more information about the forum, go to Sidney High School gradu- ate, has been named to the president's list at Miles Com- munity College for fall se- mester 2008 in recognition of her academic achievements.
